ABOUT US
The Better Foundation was created in 2016 to support Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.
Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospitals are Teaching Hospitals associated with the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University.
We are working with the community to raise vital funds for state-of-the-art equipment, world’s best practice research and advanced education for all clinical staff: medical, nursing and allied health. Your support provides valuable equipment, resources and training that cannot be funded by the State Government budget.
OUR VISION
We believe you and your family deserve the very best quality local healthcare.
We aim to enable provision of better cutting-edge medical equipment, better education and opportunities for research for our doctors, nurses and allied health staff, better acute and outpatient facilities all of which will result in better healthcare for our local area. You, our community and patients, are at the heart of everything we do.
Since 2016, Better Foundation has raised more than
$2.4M
for Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals!
The Better Foundation grants funds based on the Hospital’s and clinicians’ highest priorities.

Other ways you can help

Fundraise
It feels good to support a cause you truly care about and fundraising is a fun way to make a difference.
You can participate in an existing event like the City2Surf or Run the West, or you can get creative and hold any event you want.

Partner with us
Better Foundation is developing strong relationships in the community - with businesses large and small, and with community groups. Each assists Better Foundation to deliver state of the art equipment, world’s best practice research and advanced education for medical staff.

Leave a legacy
Leaving a bequest will serve to honour your memory and be a legacy of lasting hope for future generations. A gift in your Will is a special way of contributing to the life-giving work of Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.
Recently supported projects

Sensory space
An engaging, flexible sensory space that is inviting for our dementia patients and their carers.
Blacktown Hospital hosts specialised aged care wards and is home to a unit which caters for patients with dementia and behavioural issues.
Research has shown that natural surroundings can have a profound effect on people’s health, wellbeing and quality of life. Gardens designed specifically to support people with dementia provide therapeutic activities designed to maximise retained cognitive and physical abilities and lessen the confusion and agitation often associated with the condition.

Fibroscan
Provision of a Fibroscan to fight liver disease.
We were able to contribute to the purchase of a Fibroscan - an ultrasound-like device that is a non-invasive, easy to use and safe method of determining damage to the liver. Caused by diabetes, obesity, alcohol or hepatitis – all common clinical conditions in our local communities of Western Sydney.
This device replaces the need for invasive liver biopsies and provides an essential tool to assess patients quickly, safely and accurately, to provide early access to treatments.
