The Carnivale Gala Dinner on Friday 31st May 2024 at the Blacktown Worker’s Club, Blacktown.

The Better Foundation is hosting a spectacular Carnivale Gala Dinner promising guests an unforgettable night of live entertainment, silent and live auctions, gourmet dining, inspiring stories, and an opportunity to make a real difference to Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.

Due to popular demand, one of Australia's finest stand-up comedians, TAHIR is returning as our multi-talented and dynamic Master of Ceremonies. As an award-winning and internationally acclaimed performer, TAHIR will delight guests with his live stand-up comedic talents!

This year the Better Foundation is fundraising to support Blacktown Hospital's Cardiology team with new life-saving medical equipment to treat the growing number of patients presenting with heart disease and heart attacks.

With your support, the Better Foundation hopes to raise funds to support Blacktown Hospital’s Cardiology Unit  with new vital medical equipment to treat the growing number of men and women needing urgent life-saving treatment for Cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an umbrella term for conditions that affect your heart or blood vessels. CVD includes coronary heart disease (blocked arteries) along with heart attackstroke and heart failure.
CVD is Australia’s – and the world’s – number 1 killer. 

  • CVD kills one in every four Australians. 
  • Every 12 minutes, one Australian dies from CVD. That’s 118 deaths every day.
  • Heart disease kills more men than any other disease.  
  • CVD death rates are twice as high for males as they are for females.
  • People living in lower socioeconomic groups, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those living in regional areas generally have higher rates death resulting from CVD.

Heart attack is a leading cause of hospitalisation and death in Australia, claiming on average 19 lives every day. That’s one person every 74 minutes.

  • Every nine minutes, one person is hospitalised due to a heart attack.
  • One in three Australians personally knows someone who has had a heart attack.
  • Twice as many men experience heart attacks compared to females.
  • An estimated 430,000 Australians have had a heart attack at some point in their lives, and every year, 57,000 Australians suffer a heart attack.

Internationally acclaimed and award wining stand-up comdian, TAHIR has a huge collection of credits to his name and has concepted, co-created and starred in two sitcoms – “StreetSmart” and “Here Come The Habibs”.TAHIR is also a Logie winning actor, having starred in “Fat Pizza” and “Housos”, as well as three feature films.

Known for his hugely popular live performances, which have spanned over two decades, TAHIR is a multi-talented and dynamic live performer not to be missed!
